Holly HERVEY
OWNER + PILATES INSTRUCTOR
The journey to opening Maison Movement was the culmination of many years of my own experience. When I started the company in 2018 (originally, as Maison Pilates), it was after I had discovered the strengthening and rehabilitative benefits of pilates following my second pregnancy and severe neck injury. That period was debilitating in both body and mind. Through learning subtle movement patterns and rebuilding my core, I not only became stronger than I was pre-injury, but was motivated to delve further into the world of pilates. I went back to school to become a STOTT Certified Instructor—by then, a mother of three children. I opened Maison Movement, inspired to help others prevent a similar fate to mine. My goal was, and continues to be, to help others become stronger and more confident in athletic endeavours and daily life. Now, moving through the peri-menopause phase towards menopause, I am very passionate about building and maintaining muscle that will carry me through the rest of my life—to feel strong, avoiding unnecessary injuries, and to participate in all the activities that bring me joy: pilates, weights, walking, skiing, tennis, golf, and pickleball. I hope that I, along with our very knowledgeable and experienced team at Maison Movement, can help you build more movement into your life. We’re here to be a partner in your health—to build your strength, balance and mobility—so you can keep living well, pursuing all the things that you love.

KIND WORDS
Strength training
"So happy to be back resistance training after a too-long hiatus, and thrilled to be taking part in the 8-week program at Maison Movement. From the Initial Assessment, I knew this would be different from any program I’ve done in past, based on how detailed and customized the experience was with Trent. HIs depth of expertise and athletic therapy background was evident. It’s been so fun to work out in as a foursome— feels like just the right size group, enough to keep you motivated, while also getting personalized recommendations and adaptations for my own movement needs. After 2 sessions, I can already notice a progression. This program is precisely what I’ve needed at this stage of life (er, mid-life), where I’m trying to build and maintain muscle mass, and I’m also extra-mindful of not getting injured in the process. Being part of this has also made me super-motivated to take care of other aspects of my health. Cannot wait to see how my strength, balance and mobility improves over the 16 sessions!" - CB
"I’ve now and forever converted my mindset to Strong over Skinny. My uptake on strength training at Maison Movement has pushed me to new limits, and the group energy makes it all the more motivating. It feels so good to feel good about my body! And I feel all that much more motivated to reach new goals. Finding an awesome coach to keep me on track has truly been the best investment I’ve made in myself." - JC
Yoga
"Christie’s evening candlelight yoga class is truly a magical experience! She guides us seamlessly through each pose, creating a flow that feels perfectly paced. Her encouraging words resonate throughout the session, helping me find a deep sense of peace and balance. It is the ideal way to unwind after a long day—I’m already looking forward to my next class!" - SH
Pilates
"Although I’ve done pilates over the years, I have never had an instructor who really took the time to find the modifications needed for my body to get the most out of the exercises. Holly was able to assess my alignment, then take in to account my body’s strengths and weaknesses to create a workout that was challenging and fun. Her bright smile and energy is contagious and she’s a pleasure to work with. I’d recommend her highly to anyone who might be thinking of starting pilates or who has loved pilates for years." - AV
"Last year, I took up pilates and with the amazing guidance of my instructor Holly I learned to enjoy fitness again. When I started, I struggled to master a proper breathing technique and Holly was so patient and gave me many new strategies and tips to help. I love that with pilates I don’t get bored as there is so much variety available between mat, reformer and all the other equipment and accessories. And I especially love how pilates has physically changed me - I feel stronger and taller. Working out with Holly is like training with a good friend and she knows just how to push me that little bit extra (which makes me love and hate her at the same time - haha)." - JC
"This was my first time doing pilates and my goal was increased flexibility and muscle strength, particularly in my core. The sessions exceeded all my expectations. Not only did I achieve increased muscle strength, but my posture which has always been terrible, improved dramatically with enhanced muscular control of my core. The pain in my back from very poor posture has abated, and I have so much more control now of my back and shoulders using my core. Holly is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and approachable." - MC
